In March during Howard and Dr Kinglsey’s last trip to Guinea Bissau they visited a local school in St Vincente with our team nurse who teaches the children the importance of hygiene and washing your hands with soap.
Why are these hygiene lessons so important?
Hygiene and sanitation lessons are an important component of any water project. Teaching the community about how diseases are transmitted, and how best to use their new water source are essential to the overall success of a new water community. Without this education and the changed behaviour that follows, diseases will continue to be transmitted unknowingly, and the benefits of the clean water will go unrealised.
